VILLAGE UPDATE

Just letting people from THE VILLAGE know that Heather and i will be on vacation for the last couple weeks of August, and that there are no official meetings scheduled until September (check back for details). BUT, feel free to get together without us...leave comments here for others to see if you want to make informal plans. Both Second Cup and QQ Teashop are close to where we usually meet and are cool places to hang out (at the corner of King & Marion).

Have a good rest of the summer, and we'll see you in September!

New Wine in Old Wineskins

A really good question came up this past week at THE VILLAGE about the meaning of Jesus' parable about new wine in old wineskins. The interesting thing is that Jesus tells the parable after Jesus is questioned about the fasting practices of his disciples, as opposed to the those of the Pharisees and John's disciples (Matthew 9:14-17 / Mark 2:18-22 / Luke 5:33-39).

Take some time to consider these passages for yourself, and we'll revisit this parable in the nearer future.

This past week at THE VILLAGE, we took a look at the Gospels: teachings OF Jesus & stories ABOUT Jesus. In case you were looking for an online synopsis like the one we used on Sunday (shown above), here's a link:

Sending out a message...

Just letting you all know that this holiday weekend, THE VILLAGE will not be meeting. We'll be starting things up again on Sunday, August 13th...same time, same place. It was awesome to hang out with everyone at this past week's games night, and we look forward to continuing our time of worship/study/fellowship together next weekend!
